Season of Mirage

Exhibitions

Elgiz Museum, Turkey's first non-profit private contemporary art museum, is presenting its new selection, Season of Mirage exhibition, compiled from its own collection, its presenting as of April, 2025.

A journey through the layered world of art… Season of Mirage emerges as an exhibition that explores the delicate line between illusion and reality from various perspectives. Taking its name from a mirage, the exhibition offers a visual feast shaped by artists’ observations of the modern world. Viewers and artists alike drift between different emotions and thoughts, much like a mirage.

Alex Prager’s cinematic narratives offer powerful visual expressions of social solitude and the inner universe of the human being. The abstract works of Asım İşler and Bedri Baykam reflect the confrontation with personal identity and modern society, emphasizing the fluidity of time, space, and self.

Ferhat Özgür takes viewers on an intercultural journey through his focus on themes of repetition and continuity, reinterpreting historical and social memory through contemporary art with his Jump Series.

The abstractions of Filiz Azak and Güngör Taner symbolize the deep connection between nature and humanity, reflecting inner unrest, intellectual exploration, and emotional associations through color and form. Habip Aydoğdu and Azade Köker create a synthesis of
traditional materials with a modern language, offering the viewer an opportunity to transcend time and explore both the past and the present.

While Melis Buyruk’s Golden Reflection makes the boundaries between nature and art more transparent, Jennifer Steinkamp blurs the lines of reality and imagination in her digital video installation Rapunzel which refers to the fairytale.

Reflecting the multifaceted and multilayered nature of art, Season of Mirage invites viewers to an artistic in vivid imagination.
