The Elgiz Museum, Turkey’s first contemporary art museum, opened the 18th edition of its “Terrace Exhibitions”—an annual tradition marking its 25th anniversary—under the theme “Connections Intersections.”
The exhibition, which will be open to the public from June 25 to October 17, 2026, brings together large-scale contemporary works by sculptors. Organized in accordance with the open call principle, the exhibition features works by 31 artists selected by the advisory board from among 190 applicants.
“Connections Intersections” provides a platform that brings to light artists’ explorations of time, space, dialogue, boundaries, and the relationships between nature, humans, and the environment. With references ranging from contrasts to unity, from tension to convergence, and from technological transformations to the future, the exhibition establishes a multilayered interaction between form and meaning. Through its approach that moves from singularity to plurality and from difference to connection, the exhibition brings together diverse productions of contemporary sculpture within a shared context.

Since its inception, the Terrace Exhibitions have hosted 503 works by 334 artists, making a significant contribution to the visibility of sculpture. The project, which brings together artists from various cities across Turkey, continues to be a pioneer in this field.
Held on the Elgiz Museum’s 2,000-square-meter terrace, the exhibitions aim to bring original and innovative examples of contemporary sculpture into the public eye. As part of the museum’s 10th-anniversary celebrations, the Terrace Exhibitions—conceived by Haşim Nur Gürel and Can Elgiz—feature an advisory board comprising Rahmi Aksungur, Nilüfer Ergin, Meliha Sözeri, Ömer Emre Yavuz, and Can Elgiz.
Overlooking the Istanbul skyline, the Elgiz Museum Terrace takes sculptures beyond the confines of gallery walls, directly connecting them to the urban fabric. Experienced outdoors, the artworks take on a different appearance with each visit due to changing light and weather conditions, transforming the viewer from a mere observer into an active witness to both the space and the artwork.

At the Elgiz Museum, located at Block B of Beybi GIZ Plaza on Maslak Meydan Street, the “Connections Intersections” exhibition and the museum’s special collection are open to the public free of charge Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
