ELGİZ MUSEUM 18TH TERRACE EXHIBITION - CONNECTIONS & INTERSECTIONS

The Elgiz Museum’s 18th Terrace Exhibition is organized under the theme Connections & Intersections.

The artworks to be selected for the exhibition, which will take place in the 2000 m² open-air exhibition space of the Elgiz Museum in the summer of 2026, will be evaluated by the Advisory Board consisting of Rahmi Aksungur, Nilüfer Ergin, Meliha Sözeri, Ömer Emre Yavuz, and Can Elgiz.

Connections & Intersections offers a conceptual framework that opens space for artists’ inquiries into time, place, dialogues, boundaries, and new components shaped by the axes of nature, humanity, and environment.

Through references that extend from oppositions to coexistence, from tension to encounters, from technological transformations to the future, and through an interaction between form and meaning, Connections & Intersections calls for a movement from singularities to multiplicities and from differences to contact, aiming to present artists’ new productions within the scope of the 18th Terrace Exhibition.

APPLICATION CONDITIONS

The exhibition is open to artists who have completed a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts.

Artists may apply with artworks produced in 2024 or later that have not been previously exhibited on any platform. Works that are found to have been previously exhibited in public spaces, art galleries, similar institutions, or digital exhibitions will be removed from the exhibition, even if the exhibition process has already begun.

The proposed works must be appropriate in size and durability for outdoor conditions and must be designed and produced in consideration of the harsh natural conditions of the terrace and the fact that the exhibition will remain open for nearly six months. Accordingly, the artist confirms that the proposed work(s) meet the following conditions:
a) They are produced with materials that will not be damaged by these conditions,
b) Since no mounting can be made to the terrace surface, they must be able to stand by their own weight.

Works that do not meet these requirements will not be considered for evaluation.

Artists whose works are selected for exhibition will be notified via their email addresses.

The collection and installation of the works will be carried out on the announced dates by museum staff under the supervision of the artist. After the selected work has been installed on site under the artist’s supervision, the museum will not be responsible for any negative effects arising from weather conditions or the production of the work.

Images of the exhibition area can be accessed via the museum’s website or social media accounts. Artists may visit the terrace with museum management and during museum working hours.

If any selected artwork is found to bear similarity to a work belonging to another artist, it will be removed from the exhibition. The Museum and the Advisory Board are not responsible for any disputes arising from such situations; the artist is legally responsible for their work.

Conditions regarding the exhibition process, logistics, and promotion will be specified in the contract to be signed with the artists.

APPLICATION FILE

The required documents to be included in the application file are listed below. For an application to be approved, all requested information and documents must be completed in full. Applications missing a date or signature will not be evaluated.

The required application forms can be accessed via the Google Forms link shared by Elgiz Museum and through the Google Drive link provided by the museum.

The portfolio file must include photographs and technical information of at least five artworks that represent the artist’s previous production.

The Artwork Proposal file must include visuals of the proposed work taken from different angles; if the work is still in production, model images and/or drawings must be provided.

All information and texts in the application file must be written in both Turkish and English. Since these texts will be used to introduce the selected works and artists in the exhibition catalogue, they must be complete and accurate in both languages.

Artists may apply with more than one artwork. In the digitally prepared file, the visual materials and information required for each proposed artwork must be provided separately.
