‘For the artist, there is never anything ugly in nature.’
Terrace Exhibitions have been organized by the Elgiz Museum since 2012 in order to make visible and develop the art of sculpture, which needs support both in terms of space and production in our country, and to enable our sculptors to establish a dialogue with art lovers coming to our country. The terrace exhibitions, the ninth of which will take place in July, are celebrating their fifth anniversary this year. With the mission of supporting and encouraging young sculpture artists during these five years, the Terrace Exhibitions have featured 186 artists in its 1500 square metre area, and this year a special selection has been prepared for the 5th anniversary. Our 9th Terrace Exhibition will feature 14 artists selected by our Sculpture Advisory Board consisting of Seyhun Topuz, Rahmi Aksungur, Nilüfer Ergin, Haşim Nur Gürel and Can Elgiz from the terrace exhibitions held so far. Arif Çekderi, Caner Şengünalp, Çağdaş Erçelik, Emre Özçaylan, Ergin Soyal, Ersin Uysal, Halil Daşkesen, Levent Ayata, Mahmut Aydın, Meliha Sözeri, Sanem Tufan, Şenay Ulusoy, Tanzer Arığ and Uğur Cinel will be exhibiting 16 sculptures made with different techniques. As 2017 is the 100th anniversary of Auguste Rodin's death, we wanted to commemorate this great master of sculpture and his inspiration, model and lover Camille Claudel in our 9th Terrace exhibition and to remind our young sculptors who will participate in our exhibition as a source of inspiration.
You can visit the Homage to the Masters of Sculpture exhibition between 04 July -28 October 2017.
