The Elgiz Museum opens the summer season with the eighth of its Terrace Exhibitions, ‘Fugitive Shadow’.
The adventure of the Terrace Exhibitions, which started in 2012 with the exhibition of our sculpture artists under the age of forty, continues with the 8th Terrace Exhibition ‘Fugitive Shadow’ to be opened on 31 May 2016... The motion of the burning sun in early June, which we observed during the ‘Installation Festival’ days of the previous seven Terrace Exhibitions, rapidly enlarging the shaded areas of the Terrace when it breaks through the clouds, has become the concept of the new exhibition this time.
We thought that it would be interesting for our artists to consider the ‘Runaway Shadows’ that surround us throughout our lives in the works they will prepare for the Terrace Exhibition, which has become a classic of the Elgiz Museum, and that we would commemorate Benvenuto Cellini and all the other great masters of the sculpture profession on this occasion.
The Advisory Board, which evaluates the applications of sculptors, consists of Seyhun Topuz, Rahmi Aksungur, Nilüfer Ergin, Haşim Nur Gürel and Can Elgiz. This year, AICA Turkey President and Cumhuriyet Newspaper's culture and arts editor Evrim Altuğ, academician and art critic Nazlı Pektaş and Sarıyer Deputy Mayor Architect Gökhan Zeybek participated as guest board members. In the exhibition catalogue, the support of the Terrace Exhibitions to the development of sculpture in Turkey is discussed by Özalp Birol, Haşim Nur Gürel and Nazlı Pektaş.
The artists of the 28 sculptures made of various materials in the ‘Fugitive Shadow’ terrace exhibition are; Levent Ayata, Mahmut Aydın, S. Tuğçe Aytürk, Serap Bulat, Arif Çekderi, Mert Çıkılmazkaya, Bülent Çınar, Furkan Depeli, Şahin Domin, Ceylan Dökmen, Çağdaş Erçelik, Mehmet Kemal İçden, Sesil Beatris Kalaycıyan, Ali Kanal, Emre Özçaylan, Cem Özkan, D. Tülay Özkul, Semra Özümerzifon, Müjgan Sağlam, Ergin Soyal, Hande Şekerciler, Caner Şengünalp, Sanem Tufan, Carole Turner, Şenay Ulusoy, Ersin Uysal, Hakan Yarman, Pınar Yılmaz Aydın.
